NCLB is now up for reauthorization by Congress. NEA has developed guidelines for changing the law so it helps schools improve education and close achievement gaps. We encourage members to express their voices to Congress in developing the new law.

NCLB/ ESEA is not working as intended. With this law now up for renewal, here's our chance to persuade Congress that fundamental changes are needed.

To make NCLB work for students and for public schools, we need changes in its accountability, testing, and teacher quality provisions. NEA's goal is to improve the law by substantially correcting its flaws and adding positive provisions.

Use the tools and resources in this NCLB/ESEA Action Guide to promote NEA's constructive proposals for change.  Make your voice heard-in your Association, in your community, and in the Congress-so that our message on NCLB is clear: It's time for a change!
